Councils and ECCLA “Speak up for Kids” at the State Capitol

Councils and ECCLA joined state partners at the annual “Speak up for Kids” event on March 14, 2018. This dynamic event brought together advocates to serve as a voice for children statewide. Advocates met with state legislators to share information about current legislation affecting children.

This year’s priority bills shared with legislators included newborn screenings, nutrition, and the child care contribution tax credit. This exciting event also provided Councils and ECCLA an opportunity to discuss with legislators the importance of early childhood health and well-being and early care and education access and quality.

Several Council coordinators and ECCLA staff served as advocacy coaches and led advocates in meetings with their legislators. The event had nearly 25 supporting organizations. Speak up for Kids is organized by the Colorado Children’s Campaign, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and Clayton Early Learning.
